Manders Wins Second Pro Sprint Title

Current speedcar superstar and sprintcar racer Kaiden Manders added another major win to his trophy cabinet, winning his second WA Pro Sprint (360) Championship aboard the W60 J&S Drilling Sprintcar.

The night started strong for Manders, topping qualifying with a speedy time of 14.239. Demonstrating how close the field was matched, the top twelve were within half a second of each other.
Heat race wins were shared between James Inglis, Ryan Farrell, Kaiden Manders and Mitchell Wormall. The only major incident in the heat races saw Michael Gronow rolled his car heavily in the third heat. Thankfully Gronow was ok, apart from a heavily damaged car.

The Deltawest Training WA Pro Sprint feature race would see Manders and Wormall share the front row, while Callum Willianson and Ryan Lancaster starting on the next row.

Seventeen cars would greet the green flag with Wormall getting the jump into turn one and leading away from Manders and Williamson. Further back great battles occurred between James Inglis, Ben Butcher and Jack Williamson.

Wayne Rusell would be the first car to retire on lap 7, followed by Trent Pigdon on lap 15. Pigdon endured a nightmare run, not finishing a race all night.

On lap 17 a chain of events would see Ryan Farrell exit with a broken driveline, unfortunately race leader Mitch Wormall pulled infield with a flat right rear tyre after hitting debris.

A heartbreaking moment for the driver aiming to become the first 3 time winner of the event. Disappointing also for Farrell, who was having his best night since returning to racing this season.
A lap later Luke Mewett entered the upside down club, rolling his car in turn two and bringing on the red lights. The restart for the final six laps would see Manders lead Lancaster, Williamson and Inglis.

On the restart Manders led away and withheld great pressure to take his second WA Pro Sprint title. Behind Callum Williamson passed Ryan Lancaster for 2nd and James Inglis was fourth. Returning driver Ben Butcher finished 5th, while Corey Hunter was hard charger moving up 6 positions to finish 8th.

A great show at Bunbury Speedway and big thanks to our event sponsor Deltawest Training and series sponsor RBH Group. The series now takes a month off before heading to Moora Speedway in late March.
