Although it’s taken a few days, the results of the Round Eight clash at the Bunbury Speedway thanks to Podium Industries have finally been confirmed, but the result that matters was never in doubt, with Blake Iwanow racing away to claim his fifth feature race of the season.
Twenty one cars of the initial twenty four that started the night would hit the track for the feature race, but the initial start was called back quickly as the front row were nowhere near hitting the line together.
Under yellows the field attempted to take off the very next lap and it ended in disaster, the front row of Daran Humfrey and David Worrall coming together in turn one, Worrall rolling heavily and Humfrey retiring infield with a flay tyre.
Finally the race would get underway again, albeit without the front row, while Craig Watts would also retire infield without completing a lap after slowing in the opening turn, shortly followed by Aiden Green.
Back on track though, Iwanow would lead early with Robbie Clark chasing hard, Brandon Sharpe trying everything he could to get under Clark.
Travis Amstrong would be in fourth while Jye Mckenzie worked his way into fifth, again guest driving the #95 machine for Gareth Smith.
Clark looked to the outside of Iwanow was able to the lead in turns one and two, but it was to be short lived as Iwanow fought back in turns three and four to retake the lead.
Iwanow would begin to pull away from here while Clark found himself under pressure from Sharpe, Sharpe able to move underneath Clark in turn one to take second.
Mckenzie would then move high and despite some contact, he was able to drive around Clark to take third, Mckenzie then setting out after Sharpe.
At the halfway point the yellows came on as Simmy Dreja, in his first ever meeting, and Warren Hunter spun in turns three and four.
Sixteen cars restarted the race at this point, as Kodi Clayden had also retired infield earlier.
Armstrong moved into fourth as the race went back under green flag conditions, while Mckenzie moved into second past Clark shortly after that, Armstrong now on the tail of Sharpe.
From here there was suddenly a huge battle for second between Sharpe, Armstrong and Mckenzie, in the end though Sharpe able to retake second, Armstrong also following him through for third.
The order would remain unchanged from here, Blake Iwanow claiming a good win over Sharpe and Armstrong.
