Brown Scores in Bunbury

Matt Brown (Matt Brown Racing) who won round six of the Chamberlain Auto Electrics West Coast Series proudly presented by Stainless Fastener Supplies, but it is Chris Dymock (Dymock Motorsport) who has taken the overall series points lead heading into tomorrow night’s final round!
Brown was strong throughout the night, playing his Ace Card to double his points at the drivers meeting, along with five other competitors, and then going on to win a heat and finish third in the other to start on the front row alongside the impressive Alfonso Guadagnino (Guadagnino Racing Team – GRT), who also claimed his first heat win in the division.
Row two was filled out by the consistent Brendon Marshman (Opal Finance F500 Racing) and rookie standout Mikey Green (Mikey Green Racing), who was also able to nab his first senior heat race win during the night.
Fourteen of the nights original sixteen starters would take the green, with Che Behsman suffering mechanical issues while Cheryl Upton (Woodys Racing) was unable to repair the car in time after an incident in an earlier heat race that saw her cannoning into Troy Samwell, who was fortunately able to continue on.
As the feature race went green it would be Brown who got the jump, shooting immediately into the lead as Guadagnino followed closely but was unable to make the move.
Green moved into third, Marshman into fourth behind them as the top four began to put a small gap on the remainder of the field.
Brown would move into the first bits of lapped traffic on lap four and his experience here would allow him to extend his lead as behind them, Green began to close the gap on Alfie.
Unfortunately the yellow lights came on with six laps complete as series leader Cody Turacchio (Cody Turacchio Motorsports) came to a stop and was unable to rejoin, seeing his series lead essentially evaporate away with just one round remaining.
Brown was quickly away again on the restart but this time Guadagnino and Green came right with him as behind them Marshman and Dymock battled for fourth.
At the halfway point the top two were close, with Marshman also having closed on Green.
With eight to go Marshman moved under Green and looked for a way through, but the move didn’t quite come off, while Guadagnino attempted to do similar to Brown for the lead.
With five to go, Brown had pulled away and from here the order remained unchanged, a relieved Brown taking the feature race win and now looking forward to the challenges that tomorrow night at the Perth Motorplex will bring.
Guadagnino and Green rounded out the podium with Marshman and Dymock completing the top five.
With tonight’s results all calculated and Ace Cards added in, Chris Dymock now has a slender two point lead over Cody Turacchio in the overall Chamberlain’s Auto Electrics West Coast Series.
Brendon Marshman is just twenty eight points behind in third place and this is essentially where the real battle is tomorrow night as the Formula 500 brigade head back to the Perth Motorplex tomorrow night for the final round, proudly presented by Opal Finance!
With a number of big names also adding into the field tomorrow night, it will be one show you wont want to miss as the Series is sure to come down to the wire!
